It’s Spring and I at least have gardening on the brain. Hopefully you do too. If you need extracurricular activities to keep you busy, or if you are simply saddened by how besieged the land around you is by pavement and cement, here’s some creative inspiration for your spring daze, brought to you by Cut and Paint:
If you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you.

“Bilin, West Bank: Palestinian demonstrators use sling-shots to hurl stones at Israel border police.” [Guardian]

Climbing through a West Bank barrier wall, Palestine. [Guardian]
I don’t even know how I ended up on this blog, but one of the stories told on it was about a guy who decided to build a bench in his neighborhood. Sort of: bench = community development. So if you want to read a simplistic, but thoughtful and inspiring story read this. It’s quick and beautiful. Here’s to benches!
The Tucson Citizen gives the Arizona Governor and State Legislature hell for their grandslam fuck up of a response to the budget crisis:
“Neophyte Gov. Jan Brewer over the weekend affixed her signature to shameful and unimaginative legislation that will cut education, welfare, social service programs and state parks while moving Arizona one step closer to becoming a moribund, Third World backwater.”
For the entire editorial go to the Tucson Citizen and proceed directly to drown your sorrows, do not pass go, do not collect $200 or anything for that matter. If you escape with a will to throw stones or burn down buildings as there will be no funding to fill them with students, consider calling the Gov’s office and giving her (or her poor confused staffer) an earful. Remember to use small words, and that they don’t have long attention spans.
